When we recorded this I thought it sounded like "Lady Gaga with Neil Young and Crazy Horse" and I still think that.

Gay marriage was still illegal in much of the country when this song was written and recorded.

I think the most important lyric is the bridge. "I want a love worth fighting for, worth protesting in the streets." What else is there to say?
